To avoid the confusion that has been created by the terms “Straight-Through” and “Crossover” Cables, CS Electronics has chosen to describe our SAS and iSAS Cables based on a “From” – “To” format, "Host Based" to "Target Based".
The Working Draft of the T10 Technical Committee, SAS-1.1 indicates the following definitions:
SAS “Initiator” = SATA “Host”
SAS “Target” = SATA “Device”
CSE will use “Host” and “Target” to describe the wiring connection for each end of the cable unless otherwise noted on the Wiring Diagrams. Our part numbers and drawings will always start on the left with the “Host” connector first and the “Target” connector second.
We will continue to use the second two digits of the SFF Committee specification, when possible, to denote the type of connector on each end of the cable. Some exceptions exist (see the table below). Exceptions and new configurations are shown in yellow. |
