Installation Instructions for SCA Adapters
Installation

Connect both the power connector (PWR) and either the 50-pin or 68-pin SCSI connection to the adapter before plugging the 80-pin SCA connector of the adapter onto the drive.

  • (80-50): If the adapter has on board active termination, removing the jumper on JP2 will disable the termination feature.
  • (80-68): If the adapter has on board active termination, removing the jumper on J1 will disable the termination feature.
Jumper Functions
LED No jumper should be installed here. These pins are used to drive a remote "activity" LED via a wire harness. Pin 1 is the anode pin and is connected to +5v through a pull-up resistor. Pin 2 is the cathode connection to the device.
SYN Used as a wire harness connection for a remote reference index signal for the spindle sync feature.
Motor Start Controls

The method of starting the drive's motor is established by the signals RMT and DLY.

DLY     RMT
off  off Spindle will start immediately after DC power-up.
off  on Drive will not start until command is received from host
on  off Drive start-up is delayed a duration equal to 12 seconds
